A juvenile girl was shot and killed inside an apartment in Arcadia Thursday morning.

The Arcadia Police Department said the deadly shooting happened at about 11 a.m., in the 800 block of West Huntington Drive.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, which took over the investigation, said the juvenile's 20-year-old boyfriend, Paul Anthony Cruz, allegedly broke into her apartment.

Cruz fled before officers arrived, and the girl was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Arcadia PD. No one else was injured.

The Pasadena Police Department located Cruz in the 800 block of S. Arroyo Parkway about an hour later. They were attempting to contact him when he sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to LASD. Deputies said Cruz was taken to a local hospital where he remains in critical condition.

Investigators urged anyone with information on the shooting to contact homicide detectives at (323) 890-5500. Anyone who wishes to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 1(800) 222-8477 or visit their website, lacrimestoppers.org.
