MASSILLON, Ohio (News Talk 1480 WHBC) – Week 10 of high school football, and rivalry week for many schools.
The decorated hallways and pre-game rallies and bonfires lead to what plays out on the turf, and nobody has put on a better show over the years than McKinley and Massillon.
The matchups between the Tigers and Bulldogs go back to 1894, but whbcsports.com color commentator George Bozeka says it survives despite the area’s drop in population and movement to the suburbs.
He says a great game among top teams continues to be of interest, because that interest is passed from generation to generation.
George says it’s the nation’s best high school rivalry game, and even more people will learn about it when he writes a book on it, hoping to have it done by the end of next year.
He says he has attended nearly every since 1965 when he was nine years old.
Kickoff is at 2 p.m. Saturday at Paul Brown Tiger Stadium.
